The desperate search for the resurrected soul of recently-deceased lo-fi guru Daniel Johnston has finally come to an end; born to devout Calvinists, Milford and Grier Worthington, in the American mecca of Olympia, Washington - Acid Jock is a talking baby with unbridled minimalistic bravado. Upon witnessing the miraculous birth, Mildford and Grier began recording their son’s chanting onto a tape recorder that they, then, played out loud and recorded again onto another, older tape recorder to insure that their son’s indie hymns be as hissy as possible. After a few days of clapping and chanting over skipping records, Acid Jock’s first solo debut LP “Room Monsoon” is minimalistic Nirvana for all the latest devotees to the Church of Anti-Noise Pop. Harsh noise is the slouching figure who crawls towards Olympia, but with the Sermon on the Mt. that is “Room Monsoon,” noise music is dead. Long live its doppleganging opposite, the brattling infant called “Acid Jock.”
