The Human Catalyst Minus The Human Catalyst

Just as Marcel Duchamp walked into the gallery and slammed down a signed urinal, The Human Catalyst slams this album down as a middle finger to all of us for holding music on a pedestal. Challenging what our own ears can withstand, he fortifies this album with self-recorded moments of his days and asks no questions. Only holds these sounds in his hands and throws them in our faces. I mean, when asked for a quote, HC seriously just screamed at me for a good solid five minutes. It was impressive.

In all seriousness, we at Pizza Hell know this is not music. It's life. It's what we all experience around us, but try to avoid, or complain about, or blame for our lack of patience and sanity. But it can also be what gives us sanity, like the sound of a purring cat, or finding rhythm in non-rhythmic every-day items. Most of these are quick moments jigsawed together to form an obtuse image, but I believe it's fitting that the artist saves the Art Gallery for last. As though we've been slowly walking through one during this album, only to realize at the end, where we've begun.
